Department of Mathematics Education is affiliated to Aydın Adnan Menderes University (ADU) Faculty of Education, Department of Mathematics and Science Education. It was first established in the academic year of 2005-2006 as a Department of Elementary Mathematics Education under the Department of Primary Education. By meeting the need for faculty members over time, it started its education life with 40 students in the 2016-2017 Fall semester. Currently, 185 students enrolled in the program continue their undergraduate education.
In the 2017-2018 Fall semester, Mathematics Education Masters with Thesis and Mathematics Education Master's (Evening Education) Programs with Thesis were established under the Department of Mathematics and Science Education of the Institute of Science. There are 23 students still continuing their postgraduate education in the programs and 6 students in total have graduated.
The main purpose of Aydın Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Education Department of Mathematics and Science Education Primary Mathematics Teaching Program is to teach students the basic knowledge, skills, behaviors and habits that a mathematics teacher should have. The goal of the Elementary Mathematics Education Program is to train future mathematics teachers who will work in the field of education, have critical thinking and problem solving power.
