About us

The main purpose of Department of Early Childhood Education is to provide an education that is accepted among the current, national and international Preschool Teaching Programs and to prepare students for a successful career. Graduate education with thesis is also given in the Department of Early Childhood Education, where undergraduate education is provided at our university.

Mission

• To train teachers who are capable of working in preschool education institutions, have basic knowledge, skills and attitudes, loyal to the principles of the Republic, secular, modern and equipped with democratic features in accordance with the legislation in the Turkish National Education System.

• To offer a curriculum that is accepted among the current, national and international Early Childhood Curriculum.

• To raise graduates, based on the principle of continuity of development, as individuals who learn to learn throughout their lives and to enable them to do their jobs effectively, to research developments in social, economic, technological and scientific fields, to serve public and private preschool education institutions and non-governmental organizations.

• To train teachers who have the necessary equipment and motivation to develop themselves according to the conditions of the age and who are willing and competent to transfer their knowledge to future generations by using all kinds of technological materials.

• To train teachers who seek the best, who are sensitive to the needs of the child, family and society, who strive to work together and who can identify problems and reach their goals.

• To continuously improve undergraduate and graduate curriculums in accordance with social development and change in order to increase the quality of early childhood, to train teachers who conduct national and international studies on developing children and family curriculums, and to train successful teachers and also about the preschool field to students, to provide innovative teaching in the fields of applying education appropriate to the age and development levels of children according to the characteristics of the age and development levels, to prepare curriculum, to develop the knowledge and skills of families for child education, to use extensive research and development opportunities and to gain active professional leadership characteristics.

• To maximize the reputation of Department of Early Childhood Education at national and international level.

• To participate actively in pre-school education dissemination and development projects that our country needs within the European Union harmonization process and to support scientific research with its knowledge and equipment.

• To be a department that trains qualified teachers who are required by modern and democratic society, who can express their feelings and thoughts freely, who can transfer basic life skills to daily life, who are creative, researcher, entrepreneur, who can provide self-control, who value differences and respect human rights, who are willing to learn, who are mentally and physically healthy.

Degree Earned

Graduates who successfully complete the program by fulfilling all the requirements and who do their internship for two semesters receive a "Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education".

Admission and Registration Conditions

Admission to the program is carried out in accordance with the procedures and principles in the "Aydın Adnan Menderes University" registration and admission directives.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of previous formal learning in Turkish Higher Education institutions, vertical, horizontal and university transfers are carried out within the scope of the REGULATION determined by the Higher Education Council. Exemption exams are held at the beginning of each academic term for the courses such as Computer and English and German in the education plans of the programs. Students who think that they meet the qualifications expected from these courses have the right to take the exams. Students who take the exam and pass the exam are exempted from the relevant courses in the curriculum.

Qualification Requirements and Rules

Successfully completing all courses in the program (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS) and having a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are the qualification requirements for graduation.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The graduates of the department are employed as Preschool Teachers.

Transition to Higher Degree Programs

Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education must get a valid grade from "Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) exam and have a sufficient level of English language.
