Assisting to parturition in domestic animals is one of the oldest veterinary practices, known in human history. Basically, parturition assistance includes any simple procedure that will facilitate the passage of offspring through the birth canal, as well as surgical methods like "operation cesarean section" in cases when it is not possible to pull the offspring out of the uterus by force or not possible to pass-through of the offspring from the birth canal.
Ensuring sustainable reproduction, especially for animal production, is one of the main tasks of veterinary medicine. For this purpose, sexual synchronization, control of reproduction with various hormone applications, determination of pregnancies by ultrasonography, increasing genetic performance by using biotechnological methods are also within the scope of tasks of our department.
Performing spaying operations in pet animals such as cats and dogs, controlling the reproduction to facilitate the having offspring by determining the periods of the sexual cycles, and carrying out pregnancy examinations with ultrasonography are among the important activities of our department.
Again, udder health and diseases, treatment of infectious cases, surgical interventions of traumas and tumoral cases of all pet animals are performed in our department. Undergraduate and graduate-level courses are given about the subjects listed above, and public clinical services and researches are carried out in our department.
